On April 21, 2018, the weather was clear and sunny. It was a good time for the students to be outdoors. The "Healing Hearts" fun orientation orienteering competition sponsored by the Zhejiang University Graduate and Doctoral Students Association held this day at Yuquan Campus Stadium.
Different from traditional orienteering, this event is organized in the form of teams of 2 to 4 people and incorporates answering competitions combined with in-class and out-of-class knowledge. A problem was set up at each checkpoint on the orienteering route. Directly responding correctly without any rewards, using the search engine and answering correctly would add 30 seconds to the total score, and an incorrect or non-answer would increase the total score by 60 seconds. The last a group that use the least amount of time win. The topics include socialist core values theory, related knowledge of ancient poetry, professional theoretical knowledge, and latest technology news. This undoubtedly adds a bit of suspense and excitement to the game, and is also a great opportunity for the team members to cooperate sincerely and show their best.
The routes and checkpoints of this Orienteering competition were carefully planned and selected by the staff of the Graduate and Doctoral Students Association. They cover almost the entire Yuquan campus. If you are not familiar with the buildings and paths along the campus, circumvention and getting lost will be commonplace. There will even be a situation where the map runs past the checkpoint without knowing it.
It took no more than two hours and all the participating teams insisted on completing the game. In the end, the third squad composed of Ru Hua and Pan Xiaoxuan won first place in the total score with a time of 34 minutes and 11 seconds due to their excellent physical quality, rich knowledge, and timely decision-making ability. The first three teams all received generous cash prizes. All participating teams received fine souvenirs such as glasses and notebooks. This "Healing Hearts" directional cross-country activity draws a successful conclusion in the laughter.
